Last year, after a lengthy career ranging from roles as a chat show host to
fly-on-the-wall documentaries, Steve Coogan announced that his best known
character 'Alan Partridge' was to be put into retirement. After winning
several prestigious awards with the character Steve Coogan said "It's time for
me to do something new, before everyone thinks I actually am Alan Partridge.''
However, Coogan has now revealled that he plans to bring the character out of
retirement for a charity fundraiser, 'The Cream of British Comedy Show' at
the Royal Albert Hall.
The show is part of a week of charity fundraising
events to raise money for Roger Daltrey's Teenage Cancer Trust. The
charity's chairman Adrian Whiteson said: "Each day in the UK, six teenagers are
diagnosed with cancer. Funds raised from the previous Teenage Cancer Trust Royal
Albert Hall shows have gone towards funding and building eight units
specifically for these teenagers."
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph about the event, Steve Coogan said: "Daltrey
knows a lot of people in the world of rock and I know a lot in the world of
comedy. Alan will, of course, be hosting the evening, as he desperately needs
the publicity."
The show is to take place on 31st March, with ticket prices ranging
between £17.50 to £80. To book please call the box office on
