The Comic Relief Comedy Song strikes again! Peter Kay's mimed version of Is
This The Way To Amarillo is set to hit the UK No. 1 spot this Sunday after
selling more than 40,000 copies in it's first day of release.
The song, originally a No. 18 hit for Tony Christie in 1971, was released
after the video was shown on Friday's Comic Relief charity telethon, and the
video features a range of celebrities from Ronny Corbett to Mr Blobby to Bungle
from Rainbow to Bryan May to Jimmy Saville.
The single's main rival is the current number one single and official Comic
Relief song by McFly - but Peter Kay is outselling them by two to one.
Tony Christie said "When Peter Kay and Comic Relief
approached me about doing this, I was thrilled and hope that it will help raise
lots of money for such a great cause."
