Michael Clayton has finally agreed to stop impersonating Robin Williams,
after the comedian and actor took a legal action against him.
Williams (the real one) accused Michael Clayton and manager Michael Pool of
trying to defraud people (including a charity event organiser and a reporter) by
pretending to be him.
The defendants "agreed they would enter into a stipulated injunction not to
do it anymore", said Gerald Margolis, the actor's lawyer.
The mimic allegedly phoned the Missouri fire department and launched into a
speech from Mrs Doubrfire, the movie, to persuade them that he was Robin
Williams, and that he himself was coming to a charity event. When the facts were
later uncovered the event had to be cancelled at a cost of around $45,000.
Mr Clayton also gave an interview to Minnesota's Star-Tribune newspaper as
Robin Williams, which later had to be retracted by the
paper.
