Veteran (and we really mean it) comedian Eric Sykes has received and CBE from
the Queen for services to drama.
The comic, 82, joked that this now ranks as his greatest achievement, beating
off doing the voiceover for the Teletubbies TV show.
Sykes has failing eyesight, is deaf, has suffered a stroke and undergone a
heart bypass operation, but still appears on stage and screen.
In his long history in the entertainment field, he's provided jokes for
Frankie Howerd, Peter Sellers and Tony Hancock, also co-writing some episodes of
the Goon Show with Spike Milligan.
He has receieved the CBE this year after MP's signed a motion demanding it
when he was missed off the 2004 list.
