So Jennifer Aniston is having a
bit off an emotional roller coaster at the moment what with her marriage to Brad
Pitt and their family plans gone for a ‘Jolie’ and their resulting family plans. It comes
as no great surprise that, within her Hollywood culture of ‘sensitivity and
respect for privacy’ that someone, somewhere hasn’t tried to jump on her
bandwagon of headlines of misery.
Then comes along Michael Baroni,
Californian lawyer and (alleged) ex-boyfriend of Ms. Aniston. Well, ex-boyfriend
from the summer of 1984 who has kept hold of a whole bunch of love letters and
similar smoochy memorabilia and was trying to sell them off to the highest
bidder. Christies? No. Ebay.
If that wasn’t enough of a turn
off to the quality of the products, just wait for a description of the items in
question. The letters are all from him to her, there is a telephone number and
“Jennifer” written on a piece of paper in lipstick, a piece of loo roll with a
birthday message – again from him to her – and a page torn from his little black
book with her contact details on (know that they ‘lost contact’ in 1991). The
gem of this lot has to be a photo of
her with him superimposed on it with his arm
around her.
I repeat; SUPERIMPOSED!
Okay, despite the obvious gutter
that this guy must live in to pull out intimate notes to sell for hard cash why,
oh why, doesn’t he have any letters from her? He’s kept letters he’s sent to
her? Hello? Is it just me?
Oh, don’t worry about the
legitimacy because they were all to come with a statement of authenticity. YEAH!
HE AUTHENTICALLY WROTE THE LETTERS AND DOCTORED THE PHOTO!
Unfortunately I am the bearer of
sad tidings that if you were mad – sorry – interested enough to want this nugget
of celebrity history then you would have had to come in to the auction at
$25,000 and fought over the other loons – sorry – bidders until the reserve of
$100,000 was met.
Funnily enough, though, the item
has been removed from ebay but you can still get in on a similar auction - the
REAL love letters http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4751774455.
