It was a sad day last year when Aardman Animations, makers of Morph, the
Lurpak man and of course everyone's favourite Northern duo Wallace and Gromit,
suffered a fire at their main warehouse.
The Grade-II listed building was completely destroyed, along with hundreds of
models spanning thirty years of work including props, models, scenery and
awards.
However, the company who have insured the building have now agreed
payment!
£100,000 for the Chicken Run pie machine (with movable parts!). £4,000 to
replace the Wallace prop, and £2,000 for a Gromit (who is arguably the funnier
of the two).
The total payment has not been disclosed. Norwich Union are said to be
'thrilled' at settling the claim quickly and added the sums are based on "the
cost of reinstating the props, not their market value".
Wallace
and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit has won several awards, including
an Oscar for Best Animated Film and the Empire Award for Best
Director.
