After the wave of Bafta glory comes the wake
of public scandal.
As part of the international police investigation, Operation Ore, which
focuses on internet child pornography, The Thick Of It's Chris Langham
has had official charges brought against him.
After his initial arrest at the time of his British Comedy Award for Best
Comedy Actor in November, Langham has had his bail extended three times to allow
the police more time to investigate the matter.
Now, Langham has been charged on fifteen counts in connection with
downloading, storing and distribution of indecent images of children.
Langham released the following statement through his lawyers.
"I am devastated to have been charged with offences arising from a police
investigation.
"I am anxious to clear my name and although there is a great deal I would
like to say, I am unable to do so as a result of the legal proceedings.
"I request once again that the privacy of my family is respected and thank
the media for their restraint in this regard so far.
"I will not be making any further comment."
