Following last weeks shocking news of Jerry Lewis's heart
attack comes the follow-on announcement that he is going to have to have
heart surgery.
The operation will attempt to reopen two arteries that were involved in a
double bypass operation in 1982.
Whilst recovering in the San Diego hospital where he was brought after his
attack on a flight from New York he has, according to his manager, had his two
Chihuahuas, Rocky and Paulie, brought in for company.
Despite the prospect of going under the knife again, Lewis is in high spirits
and is determined to not allow it to stop him from working. He has confirmed
that not only will he be well enough to host the annual Muscular Dystrophy
Association telethon later this year but also his plans for adapting his
original version of The Nutty Professor into a Broadway musical are
still going ahead.
