Legendary American entertainer and amateur golfer Bob Hope has died,
just two months after his 100th birthday. He died of pneumonia, but his
family said it was a peaceful passing.
"I think all the good vibes that he put out during his lifetime came back to
take him up," said daughter Linda.
Bob Hope has appeared in pretty much every form of entertainment the world
has. Starting on stage, he went on to perform on radio, TV, and film, including
the "Road" movies with Bing Crosby. His 60 year association with the NBC network
is believed to be a record.
Bob Hope was known for his wonderful one-liners, and was said to have kept
pretty much everything he ever said that got a laugh, so that if he wanted he
could use it again. Here's some of my favourites:
On Bing Crosby: "Only in Hollywood could a meatball make so much gravy."
On his busy schedule: "When I get home these days, my kids think I've been
booked on a personal appearance tour."
On his time as a boxer: "I was on more canvases than Picasso"
