From the moment he reached the stage Mike Milligan
was hurling insults left right and centre. As the evening's compere he
spent almost his entire first stint garnering easy laughs at the expense of any
audience members vaguely resembling a stereotype that he could pin on them.
The verbal abuse eased off as he returned between the
other acts but nothing particularly noteworthy or memorable emerged in it's
place.
Towards the end of his set some amusing and well performed material about a
local radio phone-in hinted at what Milligan might be capable of, but his
agressive manner did not seem to suit the audience and the atmosphere that it
created almost certainly had a negative effect on the show as a
whole.
