Andy Askins has a certain geekish, child-like quality as he steps up
to the microphone with a guitar and a cheeky grin. It's a misleading
demeanour and serves to heighten the impact of the filth that is about to come
out of his mouth.
We've all seen musical comedians before who do
little more than change the words to famous songs, and all too often it can leave
a discerning audience cold. Askins, however, manages to take silly songs to a new level by pushing the boundries of taste that
little bit further.
Some of the gags could be considered purile and childish, but Askins'
innocent persona makes the material work and helps him to stand out from the
musical mediocrities.
