There are times when you can't quite decide whether Ivan Steward is funny because
he's very clever or beacause he's very bad. There is a
perplexing air of stumbling incompetence about his act that could either be
brilliant performance or genuine ineptitude.
He bumbles through his set, led predominantly by the many occupations he
has tried over the years from public transport to security guard to being a
"nice" traffic warden, sprinking in the odd groanworthy pun along the way.
Aside from the use of the most hackneyed lines about vegetarians in all of
comedy creation ("Any vegetarians in tonight? They must be too weak to get their
arms up") it's certainly an original approach to stand-up. It possibly
won't be to everyone's taste or you might not be sure if you are
laughing for the right reasons, but if you can get yourself onto a slightly
demented wavelength then you should be in for an entertaining
evening.
