bounded on stage with delightful enthusiasm and no visible signs of hesitancy.
As he began his material there was a definite recognisable attitude to his
delivery and then, as part of his routine, he announced what it was that was
niggling me; he’s a radio DJ. Part of his set was being an OTT ‘radio man’ but
it didn’t disguise the fact that his normal delivery contains a tinge of
‘Nicie’.
That aside, it’s obvious that his
profession has made him more than comfortable with – well – talking crap, I
suppose, and making it entertaining. And Allen is very good at it; effortlessly
running a gamut of topics from ever familiar girlfriend trouble to more
contentious issues.
Allen’s attitude, personality,
proficient delivery and decent material make him a reliable and watch-worthy
comedian.
