You couldn’t
call George Egg a stand-up comedian; he’s something more akin to the much
maligned art of the variety/cabaret act. Instead of rolling out clever
observations, deep political satire or fast-paced monologues he thunders out a
plethora of visual gags, prop focussed bizarrety, some dodgy magic and even a
hint of mimery.
He’s like a cross between Harry
Hill and Tommy Cooper wrapped in the body of Matt Lucas.
With the absurdity of bowling
balls, novelty sized objects and impressions of secondary characters from Star
Wars he combines one-liners that are, if not as equally bizarre then very often
extremely un-pc. But Egg is so far off the wall that you don’t get time to think
about the material because, generally, it is part of an all-too absurd act to
even be considered offensive.
Original, high energy and
extremely funny; George Egg is like a children’s entertainer gone bad.
