Geoff Norcott's t-shirt was too tight; you could see his nipples. Which, I
suppose, was a good thing because since it wasn't cold then it meant he must
have been excited about being there.
His cockney laddishness and Joey Tribbiani look-a-likedness immediately put
me in readiness for boys' own comedy of football and sex. That was kind of the
route he started off on - getting girls into bed - but added the twist of being
delivered by Gollum and Smeagle. An unnervingly accurate impression both vocally
and physically which Norcott used to good effect for a number of hilarious
scenarios.
But Norcott isn't a one trick pony as he made a sudden shift in
gear and started having a dig at current affairs. This caused a mental
double-take and a moment to settle into the new rhythm. But then came another
switch and he tried out some previously untested filth that delivered another
jolt to the expectations.
Norcott is an outstanding act who delivers an eclectic mix of smut,
impressions and politics all delivered with a confident smile and boundless
energy that keeps you on your toes. All wrapped up with faultless delivery,
affability and a t-shirt two sizes too small. Who could ask for anything
more?
