Gilded Balloon has hosted Channel 4's SO YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY?
competition. This is the longest established and most prestigious of all the
Edinburgh Festival stand-up comedy competitions.

such as Johnny
Vegas , Ardal
O'Hanlon, Ed Byrne, and Dominic Holland, and it's clear just how influential So You Think You're Funny? really is.
Each and every one of these comedians has graduated to the small screen and
comedy success. The hit rate established by So You Think You're Funny? as it
celebrates its 16th year indicates that the future looks just as
bright for 2003's crop of creative new comics!
Every
year during the Edinburgh Festival
more than 60 comedy newcomers battle it out over a series of seven heats to
win a place in the Grand Final. To
get to this stage many people showcase their comedic talents up and down the
country. The quest begins in late
May. No stone is left unturned and
the hunt is about to kick off in your area. Already lots of would-be winners have
signed up and there's still room for more.
To
be eligible the applicant must not have been performing stand up regularly
before September2002. Comedy style
can be of the character or observational variety but must be original
material! Background is unimportant
- past competitors have been bookies, lawyers, even toilet roll manufacturer's!
- it's talent that counts! A great
evening of comedy is guaranteed so book now and see the stars of tomorrow
