Amidst the other spin-off competitions So You Think You're Funny?'s reputation remains strongest in the eyes of media and public alike. Hardly surprising when one considers the list of past winners which includes Peter Kay , Dylan Moran , Rhona Cameron Phil Kay, Lee Mack and Tommy Tiernan .  Add to this a list of past finalists such as Johnny Vegas , Ardal O'Hanlon, Ed Byrne, and Dominic Holland, and it's clear just how influential So You Think You're Funny? really is. Each and every one of these comedians has graduated to the small screen and comedy success. The hit rate established by So You Think You're Funny? as it celebrates its 16th year indicates that the future looks just as bright for 2003's crop of creative new comics!

Every year during the Edinburgh Festival more than 60 comedy newcomers battle it out over a series of seven heats to win a place in the Grand Final.  To get to this stage many people showcase their comedic talents up and down the country.  The quest begins in late May.  No stone is left unturned and the hunt is about to kick off in your area.  Already lots of would-be winners have signed up and there's still room for more.

To be eligible the applicant must not have been performing stand up regularly before September2002.  Comedy style can be of the character or observational variety but must be original material!  Background is unimportant - past competitors have been bookies, lawyers, even toilet roll manufacturer's! - it's talent that counts!  A great evening of comedy is guaranteed so book now and see the stars of tomorrow today.

Applications are welcome and forms are available from the Gilded Balloon on 0131 226 6550, and can be downloaded from the Gilded Balloon website, www.gildedballoon.co.uk as well as from all major UK comedy clubs and they can be downloaded from Channel 4's website www.channel4.com
