The other day something was squeezed through the Funny.co.uk letter
box. Unfortunately it was a large dog turd on a stick, probably because we
left no sweets for the miniature thugs on Halloween night. The following
day however, something else landed on the doormat with a heavy thud.
Fortunately the previous day's delivery had been removed and a horrible mess
avoided.
The latest edition of the BBC Radio Times Guide To TV Comedy is an
indispensable encyclopaedia for any comedy fan. For comedy geeks such as
us it is the bible, with over a million words, detailing more than three
thousand comedy programs, covering nearly one thousand
pages. Every single comedy show seen on British television between 1936
and the present day has it's own entry including cast members, broadcast dates
and a synopsis and critique of the programme.
To call this book comprehensive would be an understatement and the
compilation of all this potentially overwhelming information into such a clear,
well presented, enjoyable volume is a brilliant achievement. For the afore
mentioned comedy geeks it really is a book that you would have trouble putting
down once you started reading. It is therefor lucky that they made it so
heavy!
