The Muppet show gives us the best of Jim Henson's warped imagination. This,
the Very Best of the Muppet Show, is a concentrated version.
You forget just how weird some of it was.
From the familiar characters (Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and so
forth) to some you may have forgotten (included is the Chocolate Mousse Swedish
Chef sketch) and taking in a variety of incredible all-singing-all-dancing
musical numbers, it's all here.
Wonder Pig! Pigs In Space! Animal Hospital! Dr Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker!
Celebrity Guests!
Ah, the celebrity guests. Included in the documentary is several examples of
some of the famous (and not so famous now) special guests that appeared on the
Muppet Show. It's an awesome line up - actors, singers, comedians, Roger Moore.
Yet it's the Muppets that always hold centre attention.
Special Features
There are two complete episodes included on the disk, one starring Elton John
(who seems to play about half of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road during the course of
the show) and the other being the Star Wars special, starring Mark Hamill, C-3PO
and Chewbacca, dancing. Beyond insane, and unimaginable today.
There is also the aforementioned documentary, in which the makers show that
yes, they did have as much fun as you might imagine making all of this. Not
mention character concept drawings, character profiles and facts, and access to
the Muppetworld website.
If you've ever laughed as Miss Piggy sends Kermit flying across the room -
this is for you.
All together now...
It's time to play the music...
It's time to light the
lights...
