If you saw the previous installment of these characters, Shanghai Noon, then
you'll know what to expect. Chan fights, Wilson wisecracks, general fun
ensues.
If not, here's how it goes. Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson play buddies who, in
a loose plot moment, find themselves in Victorian England foiling that
machinations of an evil British type. And that's about all you need to know,
because, frankly, who goes to see the plot in a Jackie Chan movie? You go to see
him in action, and in this film, unlike some of his other recent efforts, he
doesn't disappoint.
Several of the fight sequences are truly excellent, including moments in a
library and the inner workings of Big Ben, and the dialogue and chemistry
between the two main actors in great as well, with Wilson more than standing up
to Chan's perpetual enthusiasm.
There are one or two dodgy moments, but overall, this film looks good for a
third installment.
VERDICT: Engaging, funny, no brainer. 4/5
